What the tiers mean
- Approved
- Specific pharmaceutical formulations of the molecule have regulatory approval for defined medical indications, named on the product page. Those approvals do not extend to research-grade preparations, including the materials supplied here.
- Topical studies
- Published studies exist, limited to topical endpoints, and there is no approval. Read the compound page for what was actually measured.
- Investigational
- Evaluated in clinical research with published results. Clinical development and regulatory status are subject to change.
- Preclinical
- Published efficacy evidence comes from cell or animal models. Safety and effectiveness in humans have not been established.
